Feeling crabby today?
Maybe what you need is some stuffed crab. Or crab legs.
Or crab chowder. If all you get is crabs, crabs, crabs,
you must be in Maryland. You can't go anywhere without
something crabby in your face. So give it up, have a
nice crab meat and eggplant casserole and resign
yourself to shellfish. This is Maryland; we call it
Crabland. People are weird about crabs in Maryland.
What else can you say about the Crab State? It's near
D.C. That's grim. Baltimore takes a chunk out of the
western Chesapeake (the largest bay in the U.S.); and
Annapolis, the state capital and the self-proclaimed
sailing capital of the world, is home to the U.S. Naval
Academy (not to mention the state's annual crab feed).
The eastern shore is breathtaking, and you can get some
really great crabs there, too. Most of the people who
live along the shore probably commute to Baltimore or
D.C., but there are still some nice old-time fishing
villages where they catch a lot of fish...and crabs.
Really great crabs. You gotta love crabs (and we do) if
you're in Maryland.
